Coordinate system converter
Convert coordinates between 6,700+ coordinate systems worldwide by name or EPSG code: WGS 84 latitude and longitude, UTM, national grids such as the British National Grid or GDA2020 MGA, US State Plane, and Web Mercator. Convert one point or paste a list.

Accuracy and limits
- Projections are exact. We checked results against NOAA's NCAT for State Plane zones in New York, North Carolina, and California (within 0.003 feet), and against published examples for the British National Grid, the Swiss LV95 grid, the Dutch RD grid, and Lambert-93.
- Between different datums, the converter applies the 3- or 7-parameter shift published in the EPSG dataset. For modern datums such as NAD83, ETRS89, GDA2020, and NZGD2000 the shift to WGS 84 is zero, and the datums agree within 1 to 2 meters.
- A few older datums officially use correction grids, which a browser tool cannot load. For OSGB36, DHDN, NZGD49, AGD84, and NAD27 (lower 48 states only) the converter uses EPSG's published parameter shift instead and shows a note: expect a few meters of difference, about 10 meters for NAD27. Other grid-only systems are not listed.
- For survey-grade datum transformations, use the national agency's tool, such as NOAA's NCAT in the United States.
- The converter warns when a point falls outside the area a coordinate system is designed for.
Questions
What is an EPSG code?
A number that identifies a coordinate system in the EPSG Geodetic Parameter Dataset, which GIS software uses to name coordinate systems. For example, EPSG:4326 is latitude and longitude on WGS 84, and EPSG:3857 is the Web Mercator projection used by web maps.
What is the State Plane Coordinate System?
A set of about 120 zones covering the United States, each with its own map projection, so distances and areas within a zone are accurate. Coordinates are eastings and northings in feet or meters. Counties, cities, and surveyors use it for parcels and engineering.
US survey feet or international feet?
Many State Plane zones were defined in U.S. survey feet (ftUS); some states use international feet (ft). They differ by 2 parts per million, so at an easting of 2,000,000 feet the difference is about 4 feet. Pick the system whose name matches your data.
Is NAD83 the same as WGS 84?
Not exactly. In the United States they are about 1 to 2 meters apart, and the difference changes over time. Like most web tools, this converter treats them as the same, which is fine for mapping but not for survey work.
Which coordinate systems are included?
More than 6,700 geographic and projected systems from the EPSG dataset, worldwide: WGS 84 and UTM, national grids such as the British National Grid, Lambert-93, GDA2020 MGA, and Japan Plane Rectangular, US State Plane, and Web Mercator. Systems that need datum correction grids we cannot run in a browser are left out, except a few common ones that use an approximate shift.
Can I convert NAD27 coordinates?
Yes, for the lower 48 states, using EPSG's average NAD27 to WGS 84 shift, which is typically within about 10 meters. Conversions between NAD27 latitude and longitude and NAD27 State Plane are exact. For survey-grade NAD27 to NAD83 conversions, use NOAA's NCAT, which applies the official correction grids.
